The Dakar Rally
As the Communication Manager for the Can-Am Factory Team, the Dakar Rally was nothing short of an epic journey filled with unforgettable moments and quirky challenges. Here are some of my takeaways:
Coordinating partner content needs with producers and content creators while reuniting with friends in the middle of the desert.
Ensuring our team media were well taken care of and transported from stage to stage, all while sleeping in a three-person motorhome where late-night talks turned into podcast ideas.
Missing my family during the holidays, writing nightly team updates to keep stakeholders engaged, and enduring cold showers for two weeks.
Navigating the rally's ups and downs physically, emotionally, and mentally, fueled by copious amounts of caffeine.
Using airguns to remove sand from places it shouldn't be, peeing outside regularly, and donning attire plastered with team and race logos.
Staring at a giant iPad all day to hypothesize course happenings, meeting a Hollywood production team for a potential Dakar-themed movie (shhhh), and driving nearly 3000 km across Saudi Arabia in the Motorhome World Championship.
Creating theme songs for the Can-Am Factory team, singing them out loud, battling through intense sandstorms, and eating pasta almost every day at the bivouac catering.
Finally, coming back home and counting the days until next year's adventure!
The Dakar Rally is not just a race; it's a test of endurance, creativity, and camaraderie. Here's to the next one! 🚗💨
